This page lists the types of information that we collect from our users and shows what exactly we use that information for. We want to make sure you are aware of it so that you always see the whole picture of your interaction with us. Please read this Privacy Policy in full as by installing our extension or visiting our website you express your acceptance of the practices we list here. What type of information does Robots Exclusion Checker collect?

Robots Exclusion Checker does not collect any user data, device identifier or personal information.

Permissions

Robots Exclusion Checker requires a certain amount of permissions so you can enjoy its full potential. For security reasons we use the narrowest permissions available to still provide you the full functionality. These permissions are:

  • storage – the 'storage' permission is required to store the settings and preferences
  • tabs – the 'tabs' permission is required because the extenion needs to reload tabs, query active tab, and monitor URL changes
  • webRequest – the 'webRequest' permission is required because the extension needs to keep track of robots-related response headers
  • Read and change data on all websites – The extension requires this permission because it needs to read the robots.txt file, response headers and on-page meta tags on all websites.

Note: When the extension is installed, Chrome may display this as "Read and change all your data on all websites" due to the content script matches pattern, but in practice, the extension only reads data and doesn't modify website content (except for visual highlighting of links which is non-destructive).
